Churches are full of untapped potential, individuals who fail to see that they have worth or value. Henry Varley once told D.L. Moody, “Moody, the world has yet to see what God will do with a man fully consecrated to him.” If men would fully consecrate their life to God they would soon realize that each and every life was created for a purpose. Yes, you were born for a purpose.
Jeremiah 1:5 states, "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations." Does this verse not infer that God knew you before we were born and set you apart for a divine purpose? Your life is special and has value in the eyes of God.
There are those in society in which men look down their crooked noses in contempt. These men have prejudged the weak, disabled, poor and filthy before they even know the person’s name. How pathetic, they surmise, as they see them as worthless trash taking up space in their world. Thus creating a sense of low self esteem that is carried by many to their grave never realizing their full potential in life.
The church must reach these forlorn individuals who have given up hope. The church must help them see themselves in the eyes of the Creator. Isaiah 46:41 states, “I have made you and I will carry you; I will stain you and I will rescue you.” The Lord is our refuge and our hope. His love is unconditional. His desire is for each individual to rise to their fullest potential fulfilling His purpose.
The LORD will fulfill his purpose for me. Psalm 138:8 He can only fulfill His purpose in our lives if we are willing and yield to His leading. Men, such as the Rev. Billy Graham, yielded their lives and in doing so changed the world and eternity. We must realize that Rev. Graham sat humbly in a church pew at one point in his life prior to fulfilling the purpose God had for his life.
You may never be a Billy Graham, however, someone shared the love of God with Billy Graham. Actually in 1934 M.F. Ham and evangelist preached a sermon which led to Billy committing his life to the Lord. Have you ever heard of M.F. Ham? Me neither. Yet if he failed to fulfill God’s purpose how different our world would be today and how many would miss out on eternal life?
Be who you were born to be. Realize that you were born for a purpose. Seek the Lord to reveal that purpose and you too will change the world, it may be dramatic or ever so slightly but you will change the world. No matter who you are your life has value in the eyes of God,
