1. Discipleship is the normal lifestyle for a Christian. Jesus never intended that most Christians would know some stuff about him but never really become like him and then meet up in heaven someday. Becoming like Jesus happens while being his disciple and making other disciples. There is no other way to mature in Christ. Jesus knew this and modeled this lifestyle.
2. Discipleship is the process of moving from unbelief to belief (about who God truly is, what he has done in and through Jesus, and what is now true of you and your life) in a million little things. Living out of this truth, increasingly, and helping others do the same, is what discipleship is all about. It is how we experience salvation here and now! Jesus said, “If you stick with this, living out what I tell you, you are my disciples for sure. Then you will experience for yourselves the truth, and the truth will free you.” - MSG
3. Open up your heart and life to the gospel. No longer be content with securing a place in heaven, but grasp a hold of the life that Jesus came to give you now. In community with others, let your redemption show as it happens, and always be asking the Holy Spirit for guidance and insight on behalf of others and for yourself. It may seem scary or risky at first… all great adventures start with a first step. Ask, “What’s next, Lord? What is the very next step you want me to take?”?
