Help! Be Neighborly

Today my neighbor asked me for help. So what, neighbors help neighbors all the time. I need to confess. My relationship has been strained with my neighbor since the fire/flood. So this was a big deal.

They came to my door to see if I could take their dog to the vet. I could have reacted in several ways but I humbled myself and said yes. My neighbor has the habit of calling authorities before talking to us about her concerns. It gets annoying.

I said yes I could help, not that I am some great hero or a martyr for the faith.Turns out it was a pleasant adventure. She was her same old-self talking about her problems and her families.

Sometimes it is necessary to put your selfish interest aside to show the love of Christ. I didn't get into a deep witness or lead them in prayer. I simply responded to their request and helped in their time of need. They know I pastored a church and I have shared with them in the past. Today was a day to put differences aside and help a neighbor in need.

Being mean and vindictive gets us no where. The meanest neighbor on the block needs Jesus just the same as you and I. How can we reach them if we allow their miserable behavior to dictate our reactions. Humble yourself, climb down off your high horse, help a neighbor in need.

Jesus seeing the need of humanity for a Savior climbed down from heaven. He did so that you might recieve atonement and forgiveness for your transgressions. If God can humble himself to become man< I think you can forget your differences with your neighbor helping them in their time of need. Make a ripple in someone's life.
