READY! Ready for Anything

While you might feel your life is meaningless, let me tell you a story I read. A young AbrahamLincoln travelled the court circuit as a young attorney. He would accompany the judge and other attorneys going from town to town holding court.

An evangelist would travel with them most of the time sharing the Gospel of Jesus. Mr. Lincoln would attend the meetings to occupy his time. At one such meeting he felt the Holy Spirit speak to him. He was told that God would one day use him for something great. Young Mr. Lincoln began preparing from that point on for what God desired him to do.

He was unaware at that time of the impact his life would have on our nation. His response was to consume as much knowledge as he possibly could to be prepared to serve in whatever capacity he was availed. He did not know that one day he would be President of these United States or lead the North in the Civil War. All he knew was that God had a purpose for his life and he was going to be ready.

What lies in your future? Has God spoken to your heat? Are you responding as President Lincoln? Opportunities will arise for you to serve. As you feel a lull in life use that time to prepare consuming knowledge to be prepared.

As Senior Commander of my Royal Ranger outpost we drilled the motto into our rangers, “Ready! Ready for anything!” Can you say that you are ready for anything that may come your way? God has a purpose for your life. He had chosen you, you have not chosen him, for you to go and bear good fruit. Be prepared and ready for his calling. You may never know the lives you will impact. Abraham Lincoln never knew the influence he would have on this world, he was simply obedient.
