Empowered to GO!

As I believe we are to diligently seek to improve ourselves through study. When do we know if we are ready to go? In the Gospel of Mark believers are called to “Go and Preach the Gospel to ALL nations.” Jesus told his disciples to tarry in Jerusalem until the Father gives them the gift he promised referring to the Holy Spirit.

On the day of Pentecost, believers had all gathered in one place. Suddenly a sound like a roaring wind filled the house. All were filled with the Holy Spirit speaking with other tongues (languages) as the Spirit gave them the ability. A truly miraculous event then and even now as believers continue to receive the Baptism of the Holy Spirit.

When do we know we are ready? Have you ever felt less than confident when sharing the Gospel with others? While head knowledge is a benefit, Holy Spirit power is essential in ministry. The Holy Spirit empowers the believer for service. The Holy Spirit will guide you in your ministry whether it is talking to your neighbor or preaching to thousand’s.

Yield to the Holy Spirit allowing the power to work in your heart and life. I’m not advocating negligence when it comes to study. Scripture says, ‘Study to show yourself approved unto God.” The Holy Spirit can take your study of scripture and bring it to life. As God’s Word comes to life you will be a greater witness for Christ.

What is my point: If you are going to be obedient to Jesus preaching the gospel to all nations why attempt this task on your own? The Holy Spirit will "Empower you to Go" minister. Take advantage of God’s gift. To receive the Holy Spirit one needs to simply ask: Humble yourself, repent, and seek forgiveness of your sin to provide a clean vessel to be filled. The Holy Spirit actually fills your life. Ask God to fill you with his Holy Spirit, surrender yourself allowing the Holy Spirit to speak through you. Just as the disciples spoke in a new language (tongues) so the Holy Spirit will speak through you.

As you receive your new language, continue to pray in this new language. Scripture tells us the Holy Spirit prays for us through this heavenly language. I have touched lightly on the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. This resource will provide a deeper look: https://ag.org/Beliefs/Our-Core-Doctrines/Baptism-in-the-Holy-Spirit
