When we have an interest in something it seems we are all in. The minute it becomes awkward or uncomfortable we are the first to the door. Jesus commanded his believers to love others as he has loved us. His love is unconditional. While we were yet sinners Christ died for us. He did not call us to action before offering us salvation.
He said even while you are mired in the filth of your sin, I offer my life for you. I will die an agonizing torturous death that you might live. Let us embrace his life modelling our own life after his. No greater love hath a man than this, that he lay down his life for his friend. This has been literally played out this past week in Las Vegas.
Amid this tragic massacre, individuals used their own body to shield others from the bullets slicing through the air. Many lost their lives in this heroic act. Unfortunately, not even these great acts guarantee any eternal life. The only way to eternal life is through believing and calling on Jesus Christ seeking redemption.
True heroes are those that despite being awkward and uncomfortable will share the gospel of Jesus with all. You can expect persecution and rejection Jesus said, “Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven. “Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” Matthew 5:10-12
There is a reward awaiting those who avail themselves for Christ, what greater reward is there except to see one receptive to the Gospel living for Christ? There is more than personal joy as we will be rewarded in heaven according to the work we do for the kingdom as we live out our lives on earth.
Fear engulfs many when the thought of sharing Christ with one we love. What is the worst thing that can happen? They can reject the message and ridicule you to what end? What is more important what God thinks of you or people? Let us be faithful to Christ by “Going into all the world preaching the gospel.”
