AMAZING GRACE

What great love God has bestowed upon us, while we were yet in our sin, God sent his son to die in our place that we might have eternal life. Be assured that without this great act of love we would all burn in hell as a result of our sin. However, if we believe in Christ, call on his name, repenting and confessing our sin he will forgive us and welcome us into eternal life. God did not send Jesus into the world to condemn our sin rather that we might be saved.

Jesus taught the evils of sin however we do not have record of him condemning an individual due to their sin. There will come a day of Judgment when all who have rejected his grace and forgiveness will stand before God and be judged for their sin with the guilty being cast into the eternal lake of fire.

David, King of Israel, found himself being confronted for his sin. He has committed adultery with Bathsheba. Her husband Uriah, a soldier, was away at war where David rightfully should have been. While he was away David slept with her and got her pregnant. David in an attempt to hide his sin called for Uriah to come home in hopes he would sleep with his wife. He returned home, however, he was a man of honor and refused to even sleep in his own house while other men were at war, instead, he slept at the city gate.

David was intent on covering his sin. He then had Uriah assigned to the frontlines where he would be killed. No one would know he did not get his wife pregnant. David then took Bathsheba into the palace where she would be his wife. Be sure your sins will find you out. Man may not have known of David’s sin; however, God knows all. The Lord sent Nathan the prophet to confront David about his sin. Nathan told David a story that revealed David’s sin. David ultimately repented of his sin and sought the Lord’s forgiveness.

God established the Law with Moses, we know as the Ten Commandments. The Ten Commandments do not condemn the sinner rather they reveal our sin. This was the purpose so that man would know when they had offended God. When our sin is revealed man can then seek forgiveness. Rejecting God’s plan of redemption results in eternal death.

Man is unable to keep the Law, it is impossible due to our human nature. For this reason, sacrificial cleansing and atonement only provided a temporal reprieve and had to be repeated annually according to God’s covenant. Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice. When his blood was poured out it was a once and done act of redemption.

Jesus does not condemn us of our sin, He forgives our sins. The Law reveals our sins which the Holy Spirit reveals to us are offensive to God which creates sadness in our hearts leading us to seek God’s forgiveness. It is in this manner that our relationship with God is restored and we are welcomed into eternal glory.

All men have sinned according to scripture, therefor all are in need of redemption. What benefit is it for me to condemn my fellow man for their sin when I am a sinner as well. The Law reveals sin, the Holy Spirit convicts, and Jesus Forgives. There is no room for condemnation, God will condemn at judgment for all who reject this act of Amazing Grace.

Today if you have never asked Jesus for forgiveness simply call on him confessing and turning from your sin and he will forgive. We all deserve eternal punishment for our sin, however God has shown all Amazing Grace to all who believe.

There are Christians who mean well that will try to label your sin and place you in a box. Yes, we all have sinned, but we all are offered forgiveness too. Some just get too full of themselves, ignore them, they will face God one day to answer for their actions. Rest and find peace that Jesus Christ died for all men (sinners) that they might have the hope of eternal life. Come to Christ and the Holy Spirit will clean up what needs cleaning.
