ETERNAL DESTINATION

It is never easy when a young person passes away. No knowing their eternal destination leaves a big void in one’s life. My Father died at the age of 40. Two months before his 40th birthday he was in a car accident. He spent the last 2 months of his life at Lee Hospital in Johnstown.

It seemed most of that time he was in a coma or semi-coma. I was very young, and visitation was limited. I recall being in his room when he was coherent. As we prayed he would lift his hands toward heaven praising God. He was unable to talk due to a trach.

Knowing he was right with the Lord provided peace beyond understanding. We were sad but joyous that he was now in the presence of Jesus. We knew beyond a shadow of a doubt he was ready for eternity when he passed.

I struggle with what to say to a person facing the same outlook. While I pastored a friend ‘s daughter passed away due to cancer. She had been raised in the church and I knew beyond a doubt she had heard the gospel and need for Jesus. I had an opportunity to talk with her and confirm she had made things right with the Lord. It was easier knowing she had knowledge of scripture. It would have been more difficult if she hadn’t been taught correctly.

Heaven is guaranteed to the person who calls on Jesus seeking forgiveness. Rest assured that without Jesus your life will result in eternal damnation. No matter how good or precious you believe the person to be without Jesus there is no hope.

We need to understand that Jesus heals people today just as they were healed in the Bible. There is hope in Jesus. Isaiah prophesied of Jesus’ death and stated, “By his stripes we are healed.” I have heard tremendous testimony of healing. My father received the ultimate healing as he was ushered into heaven. I know a young boy who literally had his head crushed who is alive and well today because the Lord performed a miracle in his life. He is an adult now with no complications.

I believe God uses circumstances to draw those who have not called on his name into a relationship with him. He is also faithful to those who put their trust in him. I write this for a specific family and individual. Attached is an image that details how to call on Jesus. If you desire peace with whatever the outcome might be in your situation I would encourage sharing this information and taking it personally as well. Jesus came that none should perish. He did not come for the healthy but for the sick.
