FIRST LOVE

Do you recall when you were young and in love for the first time. There was no one as special as that person. You would have traded your life if it would have made them happy. If they would have asked you to travel walk through the hottest desert or the coldest glacier you would not have given it a second thought.
To impress them you were willing to spend your last dollar. You attempted to give them the best you had to give as you felt there was no one more deserving. Jesus said, “If you love me keep my commandments.” My point is that when you love you would be willing to die that they would be happy.
If you truly love Jesus, you will follow his commands without a second thought. You do not examine the command at length to see if there are loop holes or make sure it is interpreted properly, you follow without question. Jesus said to follow him one must take up their cross, a person must be willing to die that he might live. This entails letting our personal desires and dreams go by the wayside in order to follow the purpose that has been ordained for us through Him.
Look at the lives of the men who followed Jesus. Each of his disciples suffered torturous deaths with the exception of John, who died in exile, all because they loved Jesus. They literally died that he might live. There is no record of any of these individuals denying Jesus or the message that he delivered.
Do you love Jesus? If you do, then you will be willing to follow his commands without question or exception. When Jesus says to turn your other cheek you will turn your cheek. His commands are easy, to love God and to love others. Everything we do should reflect these two commands. Do your actions bring glory to God? Are your actions conducted in love towards others or are they don out of selfish interest? If not in love they do not comply with Jesus commands and reveal your lack of love for Him.
7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves is [a]born of God and knows God. 8 The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love 1 John 4:7-8 (NASB)
Love results in extraordinary behavior. You will go to great lengths to reveal your love towards your partner. If you love Jesus you will do the same.
