Revelation 4:11

“Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power; for Thou hast created all things, and for Thy pleasure they are, and were created.”

Everything was created for God’s pleasure. Within the Creation Account, recorded in Genesis, we find God and man in a personal relationship. God would visit the garden walking and talking with Adam. This relationship brought God pleasure, a fulfilment of his plan. This relationship was perfection, God and man in perfect union.

You and I were created for a purpose. Psalm 139:14-16 (NLT) “Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.” Our purpose is to bring God pleasure.

God takes pleasure in our obedience to his decrees. He loves man so much he gave his Son Jesus Christ to die that man might have hope. As sin entered the world it not only destroyed God’s relationship with man it exposed man to physical and spiritual death. Through Jesus work of redemption on the cross, man has a hope of eternal life.

Jesus said, “If you love me you will keep my commandments.” If you love someone the typical response is to be obedient and faithful to their desires. If you believe you will obey. If you believe fire will burn you, You will not light yourself on fire. If you believe in Jesus and his teachings then you obviously would not live contrary to his teachings.

As we live for him we are to be Holy as He is Holy according to Peter 1 Peter 1:14-16 (NLT)” So you must live as God’s obedient children. Don’t slip back into your old ways of living to satisfy your own desires. You didn’t know any better then. But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy. For the Scriptures say, “You must be holy because I am holy.”

This is your purpose above all “You must be holy because I am holy.” You say we can not be holy. I would counter that as the scripture would not call us to be holy if we could not attain holiness. I believe we are made holy by the blood of Jesus Christ that cleanses us from all unrighteousness. As believers we have the responsibility to live according to Jesus teachings turning from your old ways of living to satisfy your own desires. Every act should be to bring him glory.

Many think of worship as singing and raising hands in church. Worship is so much more. Worship entails living a life that brings him glory. Our every step, our every thought and our every action should be guided and direct by Him. This brings God pleasure, this is why we were created. While you were yet in the womb you were created to bring God pleasure.

You have a choice, bring God pleasure or reject God. Remember the choices you make define your future. There are consequences to your choices. Bring God pleasure if you desire the hope of eternal life. To come into a right relationship with God we are told to simply do this, Romans 10:13 (NLT)13 For “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
